Carol Garland

December 10, 2018

Carol Garland, 78, former Frankfort resident, died December 10, 2018 in Fort Myers, Florida.  She was born in Indianapolis on March 18, 1940 to Adeline and Floyd Tabor.

Carol graduated from Southport High School in 1957 and married Ron Garland in June of 1957.  They relocated to the Frankfort area in 1960.  Carol spent most of her career at The Farmer’s Bank where she stayed until the passing of her husband Ron in 1989.  She moved to Fort Myers, FL later in 1989 where she stayed for the rest of her life.

Carol was beloved by many for her sincere, caring nature, her smile and general love of people.  She had many loyal friends in both Indiana and Florida and attracted people wherever she went.

She loved her family first and foremost, followed closely by her friends.  She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, mother-in-law and friend to many.  She loved spending time with her family and watching her grandchildren grow up.  Carol was an avid golfer and loved the beach.

I remember Mrs. Garland from my childhood when I played baseball with her son Mark. She was a wonderful lady who treated all of us kids very well. My condolences to the family.

It is a sad time for me to hear the passing of Carol. I have known the Garland’s for over 50 years. I was a brother State Trooper with Ron and was deeply hurt when we lost him. Garland’s family and mine had many fun time together that I will never forget. Brad, Mark, and John stand tall and be proud because you had a great father and mother. Love Art Allen

Art, thanks for the kind words. We sure have long history together. I always appreciated your friendship and you being there with Dad at the end. Now they are back together.

  3. Karen(Cantwell) Keough and Issey Cantwell December 23, 2018 at 3:38 pm

We were so sorry to hear of your Mother’s passing. My parents, Dennis and Issey Cantwell, were good friends with your parents and spent a lot of time together when my dad ran the Rifle Range and your dad was on the Sheriff’s Dept. My mom is still living and thought of your mom often and shared her memories of them with other people quite often. Please accept our condolences and know that even though we had lost touch, we never forgot your Mom or Dad and kept them in our hearts all along.
