Floyd Whitinger

Floyd Ellsworth Whitinger age 92 of Frankfort passed away June 6, 2009 at Wesley Manor Health Care Center. Born May 7, 1917 in Clinton County, Indiana to Walter E. & Martha (Williams) Whitinger. He was a graduate and valedictorian of the 1935 Jefferson High School class. He served in the US Army during World War II. On April 16, 1946 he married Christina McIver and she preceded him in death December 27, 1976. He was a Farmer and also sold real estate for many years, his life accomplishments were many and those along with his memberships included, author of 2 books, Kirklin Township 4H Leader, Chairman Clinton County Farm Bureau, President of Clinton Central H.S. Building Corp., Clinton County A.S.C.S. committee, and a longtime member of Kirklin United Methodist Church where he was Trustee, Teacher, and Sunday School Superintendent. Survivors include a son: James E. Whitinger (Jean) of Flint, MI a daughter: Patricia A. Whitinger Kirkpatrick of Frankfort, 4 grandchildren, 2 sisters: Mary Woods and Ida Ruth Smith Hawley both of Frankfort. He was preceded in death by his wife, 1 grandson, 3 brothers, a sister, and his parents. Funeral services will be held 10 AM Wednesday June 10, 2009 at;Archer-Weston Funeral Home burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon. Friends may call 5-8 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials appreciated to either Clinton County Boys & Girls Club or Wesley Manor Good Samaritan Fund.
