Howard L. “Buck” Ferguson, 74, of Colfax passed away July 31, 2012 at Seton Specialty Hospital, Lafayette. He was born November 11, 1937 in Colfax to Donald and Margaret (Helfenbein) Ferguson. He married Mercedes Lopez Lopez on February 10, 1960 in Spain and she survives.;Buck attended Colfax High School. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean and Vietnam Wars completing 3 Tours and retired from the Navy after 20 years of service in 1974. He was employed by Shoestring Inc. from 1976 to 1991 and then worked for Piemonte Foods. He was a four time Past Commander of the Colfax American Legion where he was a member of the 40&8. He was also a member of the VFW.;Surviving along with his wife are 2 Daughters: Margarita Pritchard of Colfax and Madeline (Doug) Sanders of Colfax, 3 Sons: Howard L. (Lucia) Ferguson Jr. of Fishers, Donald (Pamela) Ferguson of Boyleston, and Robert Ferguson (Companion Mark Arvin) of Indianapolis, 2 Brothers: Harold “Shorty” Ferguson of Mulberry and Buddy Ferguson of Colfax, 2 Sisters: Pauline Weinbrecht of Muncie and Helen Maxwell of Lafayette, 13 Grandchildren and 7 Great-Grandchildren.;He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, and 7 sisters.;Services with military rites will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 6, 2012 at Archer-Weston Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Visitation will be 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, August 5, 2012 at the funeral home. Pastor Dave Collier will officiate. Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery in Colfax. Memorial donations may be made to the Margarita Pritchard Trust in care of Archer-Weston Funeral Home with envelopes available at the funeral home.

    To all the family, so sorry to hear of Buck’s passing. Thought I’d get to Colfax one more time. He was a special Chatterbox buddy when I first moved to Colfax. It was always a joy to have breakfast with him. He wouldn’t let me sit facing the door, that was his place. Our Navy connection was a special one. Wonderful person! So sorry.
