John J. Douglas, 91, of Michigantown passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2014 in his home. He was born on July 15, 1922 in Jackson Township, Clinton County, Indiana to John Morlin Douglas& Mary Grace (Parvis) Douglas Cripe. He married Joan Thomas on August 2, 1947 and she preceded him in death on July 14, 2007. John retired in August 1998 after working over 54 years as a heavy equipment operator. He worked for George Woods Contractor in Frankfort for 44 years and then 10 years for Douglas Ridenour & Sons. He was a veteran of the US Army during WW II. John served in Italy and Germany receiving the European Theater Ribbon with 4 Bronze Stars. He was a life member of the Frankfort VFW. Survivors include his Daughter: Judith Ann “Judy” Wilson of Michigantown; Grandchildren: Tamatha “Tammy” Wilson of Michigantown and Douglas (Wife-Kimberly) Wilson of Decatur, MI; and Great Grandchildren: Jordan & Kaitlyn Wilson of Decatur, MI He was preceded in death by 2 brothers and 3 sisters. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, January 20, 2014 at the Chapel of Peace in Green Lawn Cemetery, Frankfort, IN. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until service time on Monday at Archer-Weston Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Burial will follow in Green Lawn Memorial Park.
