Karen L. Culross

Karen L. Culross, 72, of Colfax, passed away on Monday, January 29, 2018 at Mulberry Health.

She was born on October 17, 1945 in Lafayette.  Her parents are Charles and Jean (Oneal) Coffman.  She was a 1963 graduate of Lafayette Jefferson High School.  She moved to Colfax in 1973 when she married Fred Culross on October 6, 1973 in Lafayette and he preceded her in death on June 21, 2006.  Karen was a Key Punch Operator for Purdue University for 30 years retiring in 1995.  She and Fred also owned Broadview Campground in Colfax from 1989 to 2001.  She enjoyed bowling, music, her Euchre card club, and loved Purdue basketball.  She and her mom loved to partake in “funky shenanigans”.  She loved being a “team mom” for her kid’s sports and her house was where all the kids congregated.  Above all, she loved being an Auntie and a Grandma.

Memorial donations may be made in Karen’s honor to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association with envelopes available at the funeral home.

Visitation and Services

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Archer-Weston Funeral & Cremation Center, 501 East Clinton Street, Frankfort.  Friends may visit from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.  Pastor Ben Crockett will officiate.  Burial will follow in Plainview Cemetery.

Survivors include her Mother:  Jean Coffman of Lafayette;  Companion:  Bob Haines of Colfax;  Daughters:  Brenda Tolson of Frankfort and Breanna Culross of Whitestown;  Son:  Brian (Sheree) Culross of Rancho Cucamonga, CA;  Grandsons:  Brad Tolson and Shawn (Megan) Tolson both of Frankfort;  Granddaughters:  LeeAnn Culross of Rancho Cucamonga, CA, Heather Tolson of Frankfort and Khayley Tharp of Whitestown;  Great Granddaughters:  Lily Deakins and Lauryn Tolson both of Frankfort;  Brothers:  Ron Coffman and Dwight Coffman both of Indianapolis;  and Sister:  Jackie Hicks of Lafayette.  Several cousins, nieces, and nephews also survive.

Preceded by:

She was preceded in death by her husband, father, sister: Cheri Cooper, brother-in-law: Bob Culross, and her son-in-law:  Terry Tolson.

    Breanna and family … one thing Karen always did was have a good time !! I think of her and a smile automatically comes to my face ❤️ Remember Fred, Phil , Karen and I hanging out at the campground , the many road trips to you and Lacey’s sporting events !!! She was just a wonderful lady and I know will be missed !! God Bless .. Jackie

    Breanna, Just heard about your Mother and I am so sorry!! She was a sweetheart. I will never forget going by your house on bus route. When you rode the bus Mom always being at the door and then later Dad and Mom sitting in the window everyday to wave at me. All fond memories of your family !! Love Connie
