Phil Ray “Red” Parsons, Sr.

Phil Ray “Red” Parsons, Sr., 83, of Michigantown, passed away on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at Richard A. Roudebush VA Medical Center in Indianapolis.

He was born on April 15, 1934 in Clinton County to George Edward and Capitola (Alexander) Parsons.  He had previously been married to Doris Ann Gant on April 26, 1958 and she preceded him in death in April 1996.  He married Rosadella A. Miller on April 1, 2009 and she preceded him in death in October 2011.

Phil attended Frankfort Schools and served in the United States Army from 1952-1955 and the Navy from 1956-1960.  He served in the Korean Conflict and earned a Bronze Star while serving.  He was a self-employed Mechanic and a member of the American Legion Post #12, a life member of the Frankfort VFW Post #1110, and a 38 year friend of Bill W.  Phil enjoyed working on vehicles and fishing.

Memorial donations may be made in Phil’s honor to the Eagle Harvest Ministries with envelopes available at the funeral home.

Visitation and Services

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 2, 2017 at Archer-Weston Funeral & Cremation Center in Frankfort.  Friends may visit from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.  Pastor Jeff Sarine will officiate.  Burial will follow in Green Lawn Memorial Park.

Survivors include his Son:  Phil Ray Parsons, Jr. of Frankfort;  Daughters:  Annette Diane Parsons (Fiancé:  Mike Goldsberry) of Frankfort and Gail Lynn (Les) Hendren of Michigantown;  Brothers: Donnie Parsons (Carolyn), George Parsons Jr. (Robin), and Rick Parsons; Sisters: Norma Smith, Barbara Howe, and Joyce Murley; 3 Grandchildren;  and 7 Great-Grandchildren.

Preceded by:

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wives, a son:  Gary Wayne Gant, and 2 grandchildren.

    I’m so sorry for the family’s loss. Red was a very good man with a heart of gold. My dad Jack Leach sure thoight alot of him also. The whole family is in my thoughts and prayers. Hugs to all.

    Praying for peace for you and your families! Phil was quite a guy who greatly influenced and changed a lot of lives by the way he lived his life! He died at the age of 83 with 38 years of sobriety. I think that would make him smile. They just don’t make guys like him anymore, although he’d be the first to deny that. Go in Peace, my friend!
