Robert Palmore

Robert E. Palmore, 88, of Frankfort passed away February 7, 2011 at Clinton House Health and Rehab Center. Born July 18, 1922 in Frankfort to Oscar M. and Mae (Leslie) Palmore. He married Mary Sue Hankins on December 1, 1946 in Colfax and she preceded him in death on September 29, 2004.;Mr. Palmore graduated from Colfax High School in 1942. He served in the United States Army during World War II and was part of the 14th Armour Division and C-Company 25th Tank Battalion. He worked for Norfolk and Southern Railroad for 33 years and retired in 1983. He was a member and past Master of the Masonic Lodge Colfax #472, member of the American Legion Colfax, a member and past Worthy Patron of Eastern Star, and a member of New Hope Church. He enjoyed square dancing for 42 years.;Survivors include 3 Daughters: Pamela Shelley, Peggy (Larry) Adkins, and Patti (Gary) Beard all of Frankfort, 2 Sisters: Mary Jean Kiefer and Dorothy L. Clodfelter both of Indianapolis, 1 Step-Brother: Richard Hendrix of Oregon, 1 Half-Sister: Beverly Ann Knapp (Reid) of Michigan, 5 Grandchildren and 4 Great-Grandchildren, and 14 Nieces and Nephews.;He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and 1 sister: Julia Flowers (Marvin), 2 infant brothers, 2 aunts and 2 uncles.;A Memorial Service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, February 12, 2011 at Archer-Weston Funeral Home. Visitation will be 2 to 3 p.m. Burial of cremains will be in Bunnell Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to New Hope Church, with envelopes available at the funeral home.

    Although I hadn’t seen Uncle Bob in too many years to count, I have very fond memories of spending time with he & Aunt Sue when we would visit Frankfort. What a wonderful man! He will be missed.
