Donald Chaney

Donald M. Chaney, 75, of rural Frankfort passed away December 12, 2012 in Frankfort. He was born July 19, 1937 in Tippecanoe County to John L. and Bettie E. (Todd) Chaney. He married Dorothy Thiel on July 27, 1958 in Frankfort and she survives.;Donald graduated from Colfax High School in 1955. He served in the United States Army from 1955 to 1957 then served in the Army Reserves for 6 years. He worked for Mallory Controls for 40 years, retiring in 1999. He was a member of the Manson Congregational Christian Church. He enjoyed working in his yard and garden and watching sports with his grandsons.;Surviving along with his wife are a daughter: Dianna (Randy) Richards of Rossville, 2 grandsons: John Ryan Wheeler of Rossville, and Cody Alan Wheeler of Rossville, a brother: James (Judith) Chaney of rural Frankfort, a brother-in-law: Ray Leap of California, and several nieces and nephews;He was preceded in death by his parents, and 2 sisters: Jean Chaney and Opal Leap.;Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 16, 2012 at Bunnell Cemetery followed by a Celebration of Life service at 3:30 p.m. at Manson Congregational Christian Church. Pastors Ken Thompson and Mark Sanders will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Manson Congregational Christian Church or Special Olympics with envelopes available at the Church. Archer-Weston Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
