Donald Dean Black

Donald Dean Black, 81, of Frankfort passed away on February 2, 2021 at IU Heath Arnett Frankfort Hospital.  He was born on October 31, 1939 in Coles County, Illinois to Leebert and Nella (Hill) Black.  He married Marilyn K. Benjamin on July 7, 1962 and she survives.

Donald was a lifelong Clinton County resident and attended Frankfort Schools.  He had worked for Ingram-Richardson, General Battery in Frankfort and worked for Clinton County Highway Department, driving a truck and snowplow along with working on the roads.  He enjoyed westerns and tinkering in his garage, but his kids, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were his life.

Memorial donations may be made in Donald’s honor to Archer-Weston Funeral & Cremation Center to assist his monument.

Visitation and Services

Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, February 5, 2021 at Archer-Weston Funeral & Cremation Center, 501 East Clinton Street, Frankfort.  Friends may visit from 1 p.m. until the time of service at 2 p.m. at the funeral home.  Out of respect for the health, safety, and comfort of all in attendance, guests will be expected to adhere to current CDC guidelines regarding appropriate social distancing and the wearing of masks. Burial will be in Bunnell Cemetery, Frankfort.

Surviving along with his wife: Marilyn are his Daughters: Marie (Kevin) Ploughe of Mulberry and Mari Sue (Austin) LaDow of Tennessee; Granddaughters: Kacy Black (Junior Perez), Samantha Black, Jennifer Lashbrook (Richard Everman), and Elizabeth Koors; 7 Great-Grandchildren; Sister: Edith Heaton of Frankfort; as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 7 siblings: Charles Black, Russell Black, Eva Fritts, Erma Baughman, Eunice Titus, Paul Black, Evelyn Black.

    So sorry to hear of uncle Donnie’s passing. I have many fond memories of him. I was amazed as a child by his big cat tattoo. Even though we are many miles apart know that our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
