James Morrow

James C. Morrow, 89, of Colfax passed away July 13, 2012 in his home. He was born June 16, 1923 in Ringgold, Louisiana to James D. and Mittie V. (Armstrong) Morrow. He married Bernice A. Street on May 19, 1951 in Colfax and she preceded him in death on January 22, 2000. Mr. Morrow served in the United States Army during World War II where he was a tailgunner on a B-17. He flew 33 missions and earned the Distinguished Flying Cross with 3 Oak Clusters and 2 Bronze Stars. He then worked for General Motors Allison Turbine Division in Indianapolis and retired from there in 1997. James was a member of the Colfax Christian Church. Survivors include 2 Sons: James E. “Jake” (Lorraine) Morrow of Frankfort and Dennis (Lue) Morrow of Delphi; 2 Daughters: Rheta Davis of Frankfort and Diana (Bob) Haughs of Colfax; 3 Brothers: Shelby Morrow of Indianapolis, Lorey (Joy) Morrow of Martinsville, and Vincent Morrow of Lebanon; 10 Grandchildren; 27 Great Grandchildren; and 2 Great-Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife and 2 sisters. Services with military honors will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at Archer-Weston Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Visitation will be from Noon until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery in Colfax. Memorials may be made to the Colfax Christian Church with envelopes available at the funeral home.
