John Emerson Moore, 90, of Frankfort passed away May 30, 2013 at Mulberry Health and Retirement Community. He was born on December 10, 1922 in Frankfort to Forrest and Lorena (Frazier) Moore.;John graduated from Frankfort High School in 1940. He served in the United States Army Air Corps from 1943 through 1946. He served with the 8th division overseas as a combat medic on the front lines. He was a Bronze Star recipient. Mr. Moore worked for the Nickel Plate Railroad which later became Norfolk & Western then Norfolk & Southern and retired from there after 37 years. While working for the railroad, he also worked part time for the Joe Gaffney Sign Company. He served two terms on the Frankfort City Council. His memberships included the Frankfort Moose Lodge, VFW, and Black Lions Legion and a former member of the Frankfort American Legion. He loved traveling and fishing and was an avid sports fan.;Survivors include his Companion: Cassandra Virtue of Frankfort, 2 Sons: Steve (Patty) Moore of Frankfort and Mike (Carol) Moore of Lebanon, 3 Daughters: Theresa Ann (Kent) Nickle of California, Catherine (Doug) Hazlett of Frankfort, and Mary Ellen Plaia of Indianapolis, Brother: Kenneth Moore of Frankfort, 11 Grandchildren, and 7 Great-Grandchildren.;He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and a sister.;Private family services will be held Monday June 3, 2013 at Archer-Weston Funeral Home. Burial will be in Bunnell Cemetery in Frankfort. Memorial donations may be made to the Frankfort VFW with envelopes available at the funeral home.
