Larry Davis, Sr.

Larry L. Davis Sr., 76, Frankfort, passed away at 3:20 a.m. Dec. 26, 2010, at Parkwood Healthcare Center in Lebanon. Mr. Davis graduated from Kokomo High School in 1951 and served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1954. He worked for Stellite in Kokomo for 17 years and then was a machine operator at Delco in Kokomo for 22 years, retiring in 1995. He was an avid gardener. He was born Feb. 12, 1934, in Marion to Joseph and Pearl (McCorkhill) Davis. He married Nancy Brandano on Feb. 14, 1953, and she preceded him in death on Jan. 3, 2006. Surviving are three sons, Larry L. Davis Jr. (Sharon) of Michigantown and Michael T. Davis (Tammy) and John M. Davis, both of Frankfort; five daughters, Darlene A Johnson (Larry), Rhonda C. Davis and Felicia M. Shoemaker (Robert), all of Frankfort, Jodi L. Wilburn (Doug) of Lafayette and Mary E. Crider (Mike) of Frankfort; 19 grandchildren, Melanie Joiner (Dennis), Crystal Spraker (Chad), Aaron Johnson (Sabrina), Angela Lebo, Danielle Barnes, Clayton Davis, Scott Shoemaker (Daisy), Sarah Shoemaker, Emily Shoemaker, Anthony Davis, Ashley Crider, Andrew Crider, Alaina Crider, Aidan Crider, Arick Crider, Adric Crider, Jonathan Davis, Jaelin Davis, and Shelby Davis; 11 great-grandchildren, Teddy Joiner, Taylor Joiner, Jacob Joiner, Sophia Barnes, Logan Barnes, Kaleb Lebo, Mia Lebo, Lauren Spraker, Hayden Spraker, Alex Shoemaker and Brooklynn Johnson; and one sister Sandra Rose of Roann. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, one sister, Betty Baker; and a brother, Lowell Davis. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at Archer-Weston Funeral Home. A private family service will be held on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Alzheimer’s Association.

    My deepest sympathy to the Davis family. Uncle Larry was a great man who I always looked up to!!!! He will be greatly missed. But he and your Mom have left quite a legacy in you all!!! Love to all of you! A large family was what they always wanted and that is what they certainly got! Thyey were two good people, who were madly in love with each other and who wanted to bring more good people like themselves into this world. You all were born from these two beautiful, loving people.
