Robert Sharp

Robert Leonard Sharp age 88 of Frankfort passed away November 22, 2009 in Clinton House Health & Rehab Center. Born July 4, 1921 in Frankfort to Maurice K & Becca O. (Brant) Sharp. He was a graduate of Frankfort High School in 1939. He then served in the US Navy from 1940-1960, and was a survivor of the Pearl Harbor attacks, where he was aboard the battleship ?Battleship Maryland. After retiring from the Navy he worked at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Illinois until his retirement in 1976. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, and Voiture 40/8. He was also a member of Frankfort Eagles Aerie #976 and Moose Lodge #7. He married Patricia J. Hobbs on January 4, 1944 and she preceded him in death on July 16, 1990. Surviving are his 2 sons: Wm. Bradley Sharp (Patricia) of Tallahassee, FL and David Alan Sharp of Ft. Myers, FL. A granddaughter: Jaclyn L. Sharp of New York City, NY. His sister: Patricia M. Myers of Abingdon, VA and a sister- in- law: Alice Sharp of Frankfort. His longtime companion: Mary Lou Norton of Colfax and her family, daughters: Teresa Bushman and Debra Seward, and grandson Drew Bushman. He was preceded in death by a brother Joseph Sharp. In keeping with his wishes, no calling or formal service is planned. As a fitting tribute to a Pearl Harbor survivor, his cremains will be laid to rest with military honors at Greenlawn Cemetery in Frankfort on Dec. 7, 2009.
