Rodney McGarey

Rodney Dean McGarey, 54, of Lafayette, passed away Friday, March 21, 2014 at the Mulberry Health and Retirement Community. He was born July 16, 1959 in Lexington, KY to Pastor James and Nancy (Penrod) McGarey and they survive. He married Karen S. Huffer on December 14, 1979 in Frankfort and she also survives.;Rodney was a 1977 graduate of high school in Versailles, KY and attended college at Mt. Vernon Nazarene in Ohio. He served in the United States Air Force from 1982 to 1984. He worked for Welty Custom Exteriors in Frankfort for 10 years and Subaru of Indiana (SIA) in Lafayette for 17 years. He was a member of Harvest Chapel in Lafayette. He was also a member of the NRA and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening.;Surviving along with his wife and parents are his daughters: Melissa J. Cornell (Robert) of Lafayette, Leah Knowles (Gregory David) of Colfax, and Bethany Osborn (Quentin) of Caneyville, KY, sisters: Darlene McClimans (Leon) of Sheridan, IL and Linda McEwen (James) of San Antonio, TX, brother: John McGarey (Sue) of Kankakee, IL, Grandchildren: Cambria and Caislyn Cornell, Hayden, Donovan, and Jasper Knowles, Oliver, Gideon, Silas, Amos, and Titus Osborn, and several nieces and nephews.;A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 29, 2014 at First Assembly Community Ministries, 108 Beck Lane, Lafayette, IN 47909. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Rodney;39#s memory to Harvest Chapel, 1019 Wabash Avenue, Lafayette, IN 47905 or Big Horn Calvary Fellowship, 389 Woodley Lane, Hardin, MT 59034.
