To Our Friends and Neighbors,
We have been monitoring the situation with the COVID-19 pandemic and are closely following the guidelines and recommendations of the CDC, Indiana Department of Health, State of Indiana and Federal Government. While each passing day brings new developments, our top priority continues to be the health and safety of our community, the families we serve and our staff. In order to help contain the transmission of COVID-19, we will be implementing additional precautionary measures effective immediately. These measures are subject to change with or without notice and we will continue to update them as we learn more about the virus.
Effective immediately, Goodwin Funeral Home and Archer-Weston Funeral & Cremation Center will offer private family-only services and visitations. Per Federal guidance, we will limit the number of attendees to 40 per service. Families will be instructed on how best to limit the number of immediate family members gathered at any one time at our facilities. Webcasting of the services will be available for families if they choose to do so. Unfortunately, the general public will be unable to attend these private gatherings. We will continue to offer online condolences on our websites goodwinfuneralhome.com and archerweston.com. We also actively encourage our community to pray for the deceased and their families. Your expressions of love, phone calls of support, and notes of encouragement can and will provide comfort at this time.
Additionally, we encourage all families to make arrangements virtually or over the phone. We also encourage family members to consider further precautionary measures such as proceeding with an outdoor graveside or committal service but delaying the memorial services until a safer date.
Furthermore, to protect the elderly and those most at risk from the virus, we have increased our vigilance in cleaning, disinfecting and sanitization protocols. We are confident that our facilities, vehicles and equipment remain clean and sanitary. As an additional precautionary measure, we have placed hand washing stations at the entrance of the funeral homes. Prior to entering the building visitors will be required to wash their hands.
Please know that any changes that we have made or will be making in the future, are intended to help our community navigate through this unprecedented and troubling time. This is a fluid situation that is changing daily. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding. Please check our Facebook and webpage daily for updates.
Since 1856, Goodwin Funeral Home has been a viable part of the community through many crisis situations, war times and pandemic issues starting with the Civil War. Our staff is committed to the same standard of trust that honors the history of our founders. We feel that these measures will help stem the progress of this virus, thus saving the lives of our loved ones.
Sincerely,
William G. Miller, President
