Brenda Mae (Smith) Bales, 66, of Frankfort, Ind., passed away March 20, 2024 at her sister’s home surrounded by family. She was born on February 15, 1958 in Frankfort to George Benjiman and Dorotha Mae (Rigney) Smith. She married Robert Bales on October 1, 1977 and he survives.
Brenda was a 1977 graduate of Frankfort Senior High School and had worked for 36 years at Wesley Manor, 33 years as head of dietary and 3 years in housekeeping. She attended Souls Harbor Church and was a member of the Eagles Ladies Auxiliary. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, especially attending their sporting events. She enjoyed camping, visiting Pigeon Forge, and attending Bluegrass festivals.
Memorial donations may be made in Brenda’s honor to the American Cancer Society, 5635 W. 96th Street, Suite 100, Indianapolis, IN 46278.
Visitation and Services
Friends may visit from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday, March 25, 2024 at Archer-Weston Funeral & Cremation Center, 501 East Clinton Street, Frankfort. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at the funeral home. Pastor Shan Sheridan will officiate. Burial will follow in Green Lawn Memorial Park, Frankfort.

Surviving along with her husband: Bob are her Daughter: Nikki Smart; Son: Bobby (Brooke) Bales; Siblings: James Smith, Larry (Maxine) Smith, Roger Smith, Katy (Sam) Tarr, Janie Dean, and Jeff Smith; Grandchildren: Kyle Smart, Breanna Smart, Gage Bales, Kayleigh Bales, Cohen Bales, Rebecca Caldwell, and Brian Smart; Great-Grandchildren: Harrison, Oakleigh, Axxel, Evie, and Rylan; and life-long friend: Irma Goris all of Frankfort.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters: Betty Sue Smith and Joyce Hackett, brothers: Tommy Smith and Paul Smith, sisters-in-law: Muriel “Meme” and Sharon Smith, and her great-granddaughter: Emerson.
