James F. Seibert, 63, of Colfax, Ind., passed away June 13, 2023 in his home. He was born on July 15, 1959 in Frankfort to the late Leonard Seibert and Mary (Orander) Bowen of Lafayette. He married Melissa (Billue) Michal of Frankfort and they later divorced.
James (Jim) was a 1978 graduate of Frankfort Senior High School and attended Ivy Tech. In his youth, he was top in the state as a paper delivery boy and last worked as a Tool and Die Maker for Stalcop Metal Forming in Thorntown. Jim was a member of the Shawnee Masonic Lodge #129 in Odell, Ind. He enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, riding his motorcycle and had a suspicious nostalgia for streaking. He loved cookouts and campfires with his children and grandchildren. Jim will leave a legacy of the proper way to barbecue chicken, to never hold back on gifting candy to the grandkids on holidays (regardless of what the parents say), the joy of car rides as a family through the country and the importance of always keeping a sense of adventure in life. Jim was adamant that the best way to eat watermelon is with salt and multiple hugs are needed to say goodbye. Above all, he loved fishing with his sons and his daughters’ good cooking.
Memorial donations may be made in James’s honor to the TPA Park Christmas Light Display, 1 Adrian Marks Drive, Frankfort, IN 46041.

He was the neighborhood protector in our school days. I am happy that I will be able to attend his service (God Willing) as I will be home for our High School Reunion. God bless you all! Ricky Bybee

Facebook Twitter GoogleTo all the siblings I’m so sad to hear this. Really liked Jimmy growing up. He may have been ornery but a heck of a nice guy. We lost my brother Jason a few months back. It’s hard but we must go on knowing they are in a better place. Love to you all and your mom. I will be thinking and praying for you all.

Facebook Twitter GoogleWe grew to know and care about Jim through the many family events at Zach and Crystals house. From birthdays and holidays to summer cookouts, he was always there. He enjoyed all the funny things his grandkids said and he loved seeing his son as a dad. Jim cared about other people and always asked how things were going in their lives. Not just to make small talk, but because he was genuinely interested. Over the years we learned about his fascination with the Curse of Oak Island show, many stories of his childhood and how he would never back down in a rowdy games of spoons (even when he had broken ribs). But the thing about him that stood out the most was how happy he was when he was with his family. It was evident in every conversation and it is evident in all the pictures and videos of him. He truly loved his family. His love exists today just as it always did. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. We pray that his family continue to feel his love in the days and years to come.
