James “Jim” G. Smith, 77, of Frankfort, Ind., passed away June 30, 2024 in his home surrounded by family. He was born on November 27, 1946 in Frankfort to Don and Elsie (Varner) Smith. He married Rebecca Heiland on October 17, 1992 in Frankfort and she survives.
Jim was a 1965 graduate of Frankfort High School and served as a medic in the United States National Guard. He worked for Chrysler in Kokomo for 32 years, retiring in 2000. Jim was a member of The Moose Lodge #7 and the American Legion Post 12, both in Frankfort. He was a coin collector, avid Colts and Pacers fan, and enjoyed fishing, bowling, and playing pool.
Memorial donations may be made in Jim’s honor to the Moose Lodge #7, 2880 E. Wabash Street, Frankfort, IN 46041.
Visitation and Services
A Private Family Graveside Service will be held at a later date. Archer-Weston Funeral & Cremation Center, 501 East Clinton Street, Frankfort is honored to assist the Smith family.

Surviving along with his Wife: Rebecca are his Daughters: Britt (Brett) Ostler of Frankfort and Stephanie (Kenneth) Harshbarger of Mulberry; Step-Daughter: Jessica Gibbons (Eric Turnbloom) of Bainbridge; Step-Sons: Cory (Brenda) Gibbons of Frankfort and Jason Gibbons of Rochester; Sister: Julia (Mark) Werner of Frankfort; Brother-in-law: Kelley Heiland of Galveston; along with 10 Grandchildren and 4 Great-Grandchildren.
