Jerry A. Young Sr., 78, of Mulberry and formerly of Frankfort, passed away March 23, 2022 at Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital in Indianapolis, Ind.  He was born on May 8, 1943 in Forest to David Alexander and Bertha Evelyn (Johnson) Young.  He married Elaine Rodgers on February 18, 1966 in Michigantown and she survives.

Jerry was a 1961 graduate of Clinton Central High School and served in Vietnam in the United States Army Infantry from 1966 to 1968, attaining the rank of Sargent.  Jerry worked as a Millwright at Alcoa in Lafayette for 39 ½ years, retiring in May 2005.  He was a member of Kelley Crossing Church of God.  He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, was a licensed ham radio operator, and enjoyed mowing, tinkering in the garage, and genealogy.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Jerry’s honor to the Indiana Honor Flight, P.O. Box 10, Plainfield, IN  46168.

Visitation and Services

A Funeral Service will be held at 12 Noon on Saturday, April 2, 2022 at Archer-Weston Funeral & Cremation Center, 501 East Clinton Street, Frankfort.  Friends may visit 5-8 p.m. Friday, April 1, 2022 and also an hour prior to the service on Saturday from 11-Noon at the funeral home.  Burial with Military Honors will follow the service at Green Lawn Memorial Park, Frankfort.

Surviving along with his wife: Elaine are his Daughters: Julia Ann Conner of Frankfort and Jean Anne (Dennis) Ruse of Rural Mulberry; Sons: Jerry A. (Fiancé: Kelly Godish) Young Jr. of Noblesville and Jon Andrew (Kimberly) Young of Crawfordsville; Brother: David A. Young of Kokomo; Sister: Joy (John) Hickey of Arlington, Washington; 12 Grandchildren; and 7 Great-Grandchildren.  

Preceded by:

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister: Madeline Wisehart, nephew: Jeff Hickey, and a great-grandchild.

    Jerry you were the best brother-in-law anyone could ever have. So many wonderful memories .i am here for you sis. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather just a wonderful person. Love you Jerry meet you again in heaven!

    I remember Jerry when we both worked at national seal in Frankfort. He loved to make people laugh and will be missed by all who knew him.

    Jerry was a great friend . He would do anything for anyone . A Godly man and is going to be missed by all that knew him. I sure will miss him and loved him like a brother!! Fly high Jerry and know you will be dancing in the sky and singing with the angles!! Give my momma a big hug and tell her how much I miss her I know you two will be having fun and she’ll fix you some liver n onions for sure❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️REST IN HEAVEN

    My heart is breaking for all of you right now, but I am rejoicing with all you at the same time. Nothing could ever take the precious memories we all had with him while he was here on earth. Although we will miss him, I for one am rejoicing because I know he is in heaven making oatmeal cookies for all of us when we meet again. I love each and everyone of you. Aunt Elaine, Julie, Jean Anne, Jerry Allen, Jon Andrew, and all of his grandchildren, and extended family members. Praying for comfort for all of you.

    To Elaine & Family… I’m so very sorry for Your loss… Loved You Guys as Neighbors and Friends… Jerry was always right here to help us especially When Kern was so sick… I’m sure They’re catching up.. Last time I saw Jerry was at Walmart after You Guys had moved He passed me on the scooter in an isle… I yelled at him and talked to him for awhile… I told him I recognized the back of his head … One of the Best…

    I am sadden to hear of your loss. My father Robert Tilley worked with Jerry at Alcoa. My father spoke of him often for I remember as a child hearing his name. I believe they may have ridden together some , but I’m not sure for I was young. Thoughts and prayers for your family.
