Michael G. Deford, 74, passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home in Huntsville, Alabama. He retired from the military at the rank of Staff Sergeant after 26 years. Michael spent most of his military career as a tank operator, also responsible for tank maintenance. He did several tours overseas including Vietnam, Korea and Desert Storm. He had a love of photography, reading, and writing stories and poems.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, September 9, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. in Green Lawn Cemetery at the Chapel of Peace in Frankfort, IN. Archer-Weston Funeral & Cremation Center, 501 E. Clinton Street, Frankfort, IN is honored to assist the Deford family with local services. Michael will be buried in Oaklawn Chapel Gardens Cemetery in Sault St. Marie, Michigan on October 2, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. The family is asking that all in attendance please wear white or light colors. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in his honor

He is survived by his nieces: Tina (Bernard) Deford-Staten of Huntsville, AL, Gayle (Steve) Trevithick of Peru, IN, Kimberly (Erik) Gierke of Wabash, IN, and Tamara Deford of Delphi, IN. Also, nephews: Ryan (Lori) Deford of Indianapolis, IN and Shane (Lana) Deford of Peru, IN. Sister-in-laws: Denise Deford and Nancy Deford. Michael has a host of great and great great nieces and nephews.
