Phillip Edwin Bond

November 8, 2024

Phillip Edwin Bond, 80, of Frankfort, Ind. passed away November 8, 2024 in his home, with his devoted wife of 48 years at his side.  Phil was born on February 10, 1944 in Frankfort to Paul Edwin and Geneva Mae (Biddle) Bond.  Phil was a 1962 graduate of Clinton Central High School.

Phil first spotted his wife, Connie Coffman at the Clinton County courthouse and they would go on to marry May 1, 1976 in front of the cross at the TPA Park.  After the ceremony, in a rush to make it to the Clinton Central Elementary School carnival, their marriage license, which was left on the roof of the car was lost, but thankfully recovered. This was the beginning of a life filled with family, travel and amazing friends.

Phil was never one to sit still for long. There was always a project to do, a garden to tend, or an open road to hit.  Most of his life was spent residing at Little Lakes Estates where he enjoyed fishing, snowmobiling, mushroom hunting and gathering with friends and family.  He loved riding his motorcycle in the summer months, but his true passion was snowmobiling.  He would ride whenever conditions would allow but would travel north at least once a year to outrun his younger friends on the trails.  If he were to sit still, it was most likely to watch the Purdue Boilermakers, the Indianapolis Colts or any kind of racing sports, from NASCAR to Indy cars to drag races.

Professionally, Phil worked at Mallory’s in Frankfort for twenty years.  He then had the privilege of working in the mortgage industry with close friends, and in 1992 founded Alpha Mortgage with one of his best friends, Herb Buffenbarger.  He later became a real estate broker, most recently with Snellenbarger Realty.

Phil was also an active member of Michigantown Christian Church for most of his life.  His roles at the church included Elder, Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and Small Group Leader. He was a faithful Christian who shared his love of Jesus with countless people. Beyond his role in the church, he was always eager to lend a helping hand to those in need. He was well known and loved by his community and will be greatly missed.

I was heartbroken at the news of Phil’s passing. He was a wonderful friend to my father, Herb Buffenbarger. Over the years, I have known him, as a Godly man, a blessing to the people around him and to his community, as a whole. As for myself, I am forever grateful for the kindnesses and quiet humble service he made to those around him. He blessed so many people, but did it so gently and kindly. It would seem unnoticeable. But it wasn’t. We noticed. My sympathies to Connie and his children and grandchildren. May our Lord and Savior comfort and keep you.

Dear Connie, Anjie, Gina, and families, I’m so sad to hear of Phil’s passing. “Dad” as I always called him, was such a good man. I have so many fun memories shared with Dad and Connie, including when I crashed his snowmobile out on Little Lakes. Always one to encourage others, he made me get right back on it and try again…only slower…and steer AWAY from the snow banks! Much time spent in the 1980’s and then again as we ‘grew up’. Thank you for always sharing “Dad” with me. love you all so much. I pray for you to find peace in all the wonderful memories.
    Love you!
