Rebecca Ann Vela, 60, of Frankfort, passed away October 4, 2021 at IU Heath Arnett Hospital in Lafayette. She was born on February 19, 1961 in Hammond, Ind. To Lindell Ray Dukes and Dorothy Lee (Benson) Griffin. She married Michael T. Vela in June of 1977 and they later divorced.

Rebecca attended Donald E. Gavit High School and worked for Frito Lay for 18 years. She was a member of Faith Family Church and enjoyed traveling, attending Christian concerts, and watching movies. Her greatest love was spending time with her family and her dog, Sophie Girl.

Visitation and Services

Funeral Services will be held at 6 p.m. EDT Saturday, October 9, 2021 at Faith Family Church, 508 West Green Street, Frankfort. Friends may visit from 4 p.m. until the time of service at 6 p.m. at the church. Archer-Weston Funeral & Cremation Center, 501 East Clinton Street, Frankfort is honored to assist the Vela family. Graveside service will take place Monday, October 11, 2021 at 1 p.m. CST at Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City, Kentucky.

Surviving are her Children: Jason Michael (Jenae) Vela of Russiaville, Alicia Marie (Marcos) Echeverria of Frankfort, and Derek Mitchell (Tiffany) Vela of Lafayette; Brothers: Timothy Wayne Thomas of Frankfort and Randall (Linda) Dukes of Evansville; Grandchildren: Alexis, Selena, Isaiah, Manuel, Tyler, Xavier, Eric, Troy, Jalin, RJ, Chris, Vanesa, and Adelynn; and Great-Grandchildren: Cooper, Dominic, Cora, Callum, Miles, Elaina, Esme, and Ezra.

    I’m so very sorry on the loss of your mother/ sister/ grandma. I knew Becky from back in the day. She was such a bright light and she would light up a room when she walked in it.     Prayers for all the family Becky was like family to me hadn’t seen her for awhile going to miss her glad she is going to rest by her mother Dorothy the last time I saw her was at her mother’s funeral rest in peace my friend until we meet again and may God give comfort to all the family.

    I am so very sorry to hear this. I worked with Becky many years, Always smiled. Always had a good word for everyone. She will be missed here on earth, but, will be rejoicing with our heavenly father. May GOD grant you all comfort.

    I am so sorry for your loss. I have great childhood memories of her in Hammond, IN. I wish we could have lived closer so we could have seen each other more as adults. Becky was always in my thoughts and I will truly miss her. RIP and I know you are one of God’s Angels now.

    Becky brought me back to our heavenly father, which I will be grateful for for the rest of my life. My heart breaks for her family but I’m comforted by the fact that she is with the Lord whom she loved dearly.

    I am just now seeing this. I am so sorry for your loss. Becky has known me since I was born. Our moms were best friends. Timmy I am so sorry. Your not on fb anymore, I am shocked.     She is going to be missed by so many people. I cherish the memories that her and I had together. Her and I night swimming and staying up all night talking.Our prayers and thoughts are with her family. Love all of you. Wayne&i had so many good Memories, of times that we spent with Becky. I will truly miss her messaging me all the time on Facebook.

    I had the pleasure of meeting Becky when I was in 6th grade with Alicia ♡ We’ve crossed paths many times throughout all these years and she was always good to me. She loved her kids and grandkids so much, I’m so sorry the family has suffered this loss. My love, condolences and prayers to all of you.
