I’d like to offer my condolences to the Israel Family. Wanda was my 2nd mom while growing up in the neighborhood. I spent as much time at her house as I did my own. I’m sorry to hear about her passing, my thoughts and prayers go out to her surviving family! She will be missed!

My grandma Wanda taught me so much about life. She is my favorite person in the entire world and I dreaded for when this day would come. She inspired me so much to express my feelings through my art and to this day I thank her for teaching me that. I owe it all to her. She loved to make roses and other little figures out of homemade clay that she would make out of bread and glue. She use to always make me birthday cakes and we would decorate her front dining room window for the customers that would come to visit my grandparent’s produce shop. She taught me what real love and companionship looked like in the marriage she had with my grandpa, as I never got to witness that with my own parents. She truly made an impact on me that I will keep with me forever.

The other day when I saw her, she said she wanted to make pipe cleaner ornaments (she hadn’t made anything like that in years) and that took me back to the times when we made things together all the time. I just wish I had the chance to make something with her just one last time.

I will always keep a part of you within me Grandma, because of you I’m a better me. I will forever miss your laugh, your creativity, your strength, your kindness and all of the stories you would always tell. You always loved to tell the story of how you met my grandpa and I just hope that I can amount to the woman that you are by the time I’m your age. I have always aspired to have the love story that you had my entire life and I hope that I will achieve that with someone one day. Your creative expression has inspired me so much throughout my life that I want to be able to inspire others with that same passion. I will always love you and you will forever be missed by not just me, but by the many hearts you’ve touched so graciously while you were here.
