Kathryn “Sue” Newman, 87, of Frankfort, passed away June 25, 2022 at Wesley Manor Retirement Community. She was born on January 9, 1935 in Odin, Illinois to Ira and Eva (Pigg) Prahl. She married Donald L. Newman on June 15, 1957 in Odin, Illinois and he preceded her in death on October 12, 2012.
Sue was a graduate of Odin Illinois High School, earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Southern Illinois University and her Master’s Degree from Purdue University. She was a school teacher for 5 years in Centralia, Illinois and worked in food preparation for several restaurants. She was a member of Eastside Christian Church, the Order of Eastern Star, and the “Gold Ladies”. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and enjoyed sewing and cooking.
Memorial Donations may be made in Sue’s honor to the Wesley Manor Employee Appreciation Fund, 1555 N. Main Street, Frankfort, IN 46041.
Visitation and Services
Private Graveside Services will be held at a later date in Peaceful Valley Cemetery in Odin, Illinois. Archer-Weston Funeral & Cremation Center, 501 East Clinton Street, Frankfort is honored to assist the Newman family.

Surviving are her Daughters: Donna (Ken) Stiles of Westfield and Denise (Damon) DeFord of Michigantown; Grandchildren: Sara (Michael) Fitzpatrick, Daniel Stiles, Eric DeFord, and Ethan DeFord; Great-Grandchildren: Sloane Fitzpatrick, Owen DeFord, along with one arriving in October 2022.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, granddaughter-in-law: Jana DeFord, great-granddaughters: Hazel DeFord and Lily DeFord, and 2 brothers.
