Armond Ponton

Armond G. Ponton, 102, Frankfort passed away February 1, 2009 at St. Vincent Frankfort Hospital. He was born in Wolcott, December 21, 1906 and was the son of Mert & Della (Bissonette) Ponton. He graduated from Wolcott High School in 1925 and Lafayette Business College in 1927.;On April 9, 1929, he married Dorothy A. Deno in Fowler and she preceded him in death, April 18, 1985. Armond worked for Peoples Life Insurance Company and retired from Lafayette Life Insurance Company.;He attended St. Mary Church in Frankfort and was a longtime continuous member of the Knights of Columbus having received the 1st and 2nd Degree when he was 18. He enjoyed gardening, reading, fishing, visiting with his family and friends. He served on the Parish Council at the time the new St. Mary Church was constructed and dedicated.;He is survived by a daughter, Donna A. VanMeter, Tawas City, Michigan, and four sons, George G., (wife Gloria) and John S., both of Frankfort, Freddy J., and Thomas A. (wife Carolyn) both of Bloomington, 20 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.;Calling will be Wednesday at Archer-Weston Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM with recitation of the Rosary at 7:30. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, February 5 at 10:30 AM at St. Mary Catholic Church, Father Chris Miller officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery.

    Worked at LLIC when your Dad did. In fact we used to eat together in the cafeterria at LLIC. Be proud that your Dad was a kind and caring man! He was a guy who was anxious to assist the new guy learn the ropes and deserves a big “THANK YOU” from me!!! My deepest sympathy to his Family Tommy Anderson
