Beverly Buis Calvert Spears, 78, passed away on October 31, 2011 in Tulsa, OK after a valiant four year fight with breast cancer. She was born on May 14, 1933 to Burl & Mary Buis in Indianapolis, IN. After graduating from Gaithersburg (MD) High School, Beverly worked for the Atomic Energy Commission in Germantown, MD as an executive assistant to three of the company’s vice presidents. She married Leon Calvert on February 28, 1954. During their 50 years of marriage they lived in Beirut, Lebanon while Leon worked for the Department of State. They traveled extensively and after a short stint in Mexico City moved to Tulsa, OK. In 1973 they started their own company, Graphics Universal, Inc., which grew and developed into Calvert Companies. Beverly was owner and CEO of Professional Image Inc., which was a packaging company. After Leon’s death in 2004, she renewed her friendship with widower Robert Spears. They married on May 26, 2008 and spent 3 lovely years together. Surviving along with her husband, Robert Spears are 2 Daughters: Victoria Calvert (Husband Peter) Smith and Cynthia Calvert (Husband Bill) Copeland; 5 Granddaughters: Casey Copeland, Lauren Smith, Megan Hollifield, Whitney Smith, and Rachel Deal; 1 Brother: Tom (Wife Shirley) Buis; and 1 Sister: Bonnie (Husband Tom) Prickett. Graveside services will be held at 10 am Monday, November 7, 2011 at Bunnell Cemetery in Frankfort, IN. Donations may be made to the Cancer Treatment Center of America.
