Charles Edward “Charlie” Cottrell, 68, of Frankfort passed away February 8, 2020 in his home surrounded by family.  He was born on April 2, 1951 in Harlan County, Kentucky to Chester and Mary (Bonham) Cottrell.  He married Susan Sterling on July 8, 1974 in Frankfort and she survives.

Charlie attended Frankfort Senior High School and retired from Exide Battery after 35 years of service.  He was a member of the Eagles Lodge, an avid outdoorsman, enjoyed riding his motorcycles and tinkering in the garage.  He loved his children and grandchildren.

Memorial donations may be made in Charlie’s honor to the Eagles Lodge with envelopes available at the funeral home.

 

Visitation and Services

Friends may visit 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at Archer-Weston Funeral & Cremation Center, 501 East Clinton Street, Frankfort. 

Survived by:

Surviving along with his wife Susie are his Daughter: Stacie Lowe (Fiancé: Gregory Spires) of Brookston; Sons: Craig Cottrell (Fiancé: Makayla) of Frankfort, Kyle (Lindsy) Cottrell of Brookston, and Kaleb (Lauren) Petersen of Frankfort; Brothers: Ed (Sandy) Cottrell, Randy (Tina) Cottrell, and Larry (Terri) Cottrell all of Frankfort; Sister:  Carolyn (Chris) Martin of Frankfort; Grandchildren: Kishla and Lindyn; Great Grandchildren:  Kayden, Ava, Carter, Cooper, Bella, Aria, and one on the way along with Mother-in-law: Joan Sterling of Frankfort.  

Preceded by:

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother: Jerry Cottrell.

    Love you Charlie!! You were more of a dad to me than my own. I will never forget you and what an honor it was to know you! Dont give the angels too hard of a time up there and no dirty jokes! Haha! I love ya dad!

    To the cottrell family u have my deepest condolences and my prayers may charlie rip and become a angel and finish the work in heaven and charlie cld u plz tell dad and gma i love and miss them u and dad be workin and fixin everything up there and im pretty sure tht they have plenty of cold ones up there for u guys to drink and not to mention all the great times we all shared at the lake and just in general charlie u will b missed by many rip charlie until we all are united again

    Susie, Kyle and all of Charlie’s loved ones, I am just now seeing this and am so sorry to see it. I have lots of good memories of all of us at the lake, annual parties and just hanging out at the shelter. I hope Jeff (Duff), Ben and some of the others that have gone before were there to greet him when he arrived at the Heavenly Lake. Sending you my love! Duffette
