I will never forget Rusty, from before his accident or after. I will always remember how we got blisters on our hands working with my dad when we were teens, and how many hot dogs we ate that night at the bonfire with Ernie and Dicky. The photos from that day make me smile whenever I see them. I laugh every time I remember the day we laughed ourselves sick and I nearly got kicked out of one rehab facility for my Baywatch babe re-creation. He had tears running down his face and he kept snorting about my taped-on napkin bikini. The nurses, however, did not think it was funny. I’ll never forget how joyful Rusty was the day I did a burnout in the parking lot to show off my new Camaro. Every time I visited him after that, he would go and point out the black marks in the parking lot. (I got in trouble for that too, but it was worth it.) He loved all of my cars and delighted in seeing them up close, even sitting in the driver’s seat of a few of them. I think of him every time I eat a Big Mac. He loved them so much. The nurses did not love that I would sneak them in for him every chance I got. The nurses also didn’t love our wheelchair wheelies in the hallways, or us racing up and down them. Rusty really loved the Harley-Davidson radio and shirt I got him one year. Giving Rusty a gift was like getting one for yourself, because it brought him so much joy. I pray that he is finally at peace. I am glad he’s out of that darned chair! Run, Rusty, Run!! We’ll run again together one day. Peace, Kathleen

To the son who came into my life. When I married his father, he became a part of me too. We had a good time on Christmas. I played baseball with him. He laughed & got a kick out of that, watching me with the baseball & met trying throw the ball. He got a game with slime he thought that was real fun. We had lot of fun. We ate some chocolate fudge & had a good time. He will greatly missed.
