David Gallagher

David K. Gallagher, 82, formerly of Kirklin passed away February 12, 2013 at St. Vincent Hospice in Indianapolis. He was born January 25, 1931 in Indianapolis to Victor Emerson and Opal Mae (Kinsey) Gallagher. He married Mary Elizabeth “Libby” Moore in 1951 and they divorced. He then married Paula Joan “Jo” Wadsworth on June 2, 1982 and she preceded him in death on March 16, 1994. David graduated from Waldron High School and attended Purdue University for 3 years. He was National Sales Manager for International Minerals & Chemical Corp., Skokie, IL; Field Nutritionist for A.O. Smith/Harvestor Corp., Milwaukee, WI; Director of Vegetation Management for Northwest Colorado for Colorado State University; Agricultural Consultant for Bales Consulting, Michigantown, IN and owner of Just Ornamental Grasses in Kirklin, IN. He was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Frankfort, listed in Who’s Who of the West and a 33 year member of and speaker for Alcoholics Anonymous. We was a master gardener and enjoyed judging 4-H projects at fairs, listening to classical and opera music, and enjoyed playing and was an avid fan of tennis. Survivors include his children: Ann Gallagher of Indianapolis, IN; Kevin Gallagher of Fort Collins, CO; David Gallagher of Indianapolis, IN; Beth Keele of Frankfort, IN; Patrick Gallagher of Nashville, TN; Father Peter Gallagher of Lawrenceburg, IN; Robert Gallagher of Crane, IN; and Kathryn Bullerdick of Omaha, NE; 2 Brothers: Robert Gallagher of Memphis, TN and Thomas Gallagher of Shelbyville, IN; 14 Grandchildren and 6 Great-Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and a son: Brian Gallagher. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, February 16, 2013 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Frankfort. A Rosary service will be at 4 p.m. Friday, February 15, 2013 with visitation following until 7 p.m. at Archer-Weston Funeral Home. Father Chris Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Silt Cemetery, Silt, CO. Memorial donations may be made to St. Vincent Frankfort Hospital Foundation with envelopes available at the funeral home.
