Mary Edna Varner age 97 passed away Saturday, January 22, 2011 at the Clinton House Health and Rehabilitation Center in Frankfort. Born February 12, 1913 in Kirklin to Reldo R. and Effie Irene (Singleton) McKinzie. She married Rennie T. Varner on September 27, 1975 in Lexington, KY and he preceded her in death on February 8, 1998. Mrs. Varner was a Licensed Practical Nurse and had previously worked at the Eastern State Mental Hospital in Lexington, KY before moving to Frankfort in 1975. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Frankfort. She is survived by a step-daughter: Eva Malone of Nicholasville, KY, 2 brothers: Dick McKinzie and Jim McKinzie both of Frankfort, and 2 sisters: Sue McCune of Frankfort and Bonnie Eddingfield of Lima, OH. Services will be held at 2 P.M. Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at Archer-Weston Funeral Home in Frankfort. Friends may call one hour prior to services. Pastor Chuck Williams will officiate the services. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon, IN.

    I am so sorry for your loss. I always enjoyed Edna. Edna lived behind us on Melody and she would always wave if she was outside when we walked by. Edna was a sweet, sweet lady that will be missed. I know this sweet lady heard the voice of Jesus when he said, “well done good and faithful servant.” May God comfort you at this sad time.
