Richard Dean Ham, Sr.

Richard Dean Ham, Sr., 85 years of age, of Frankfort, Ind., passed away July 17, 2023 at Ascension St. Vincent in Kokomo, Ind.  He was born May 11, 1938 in Bloomington, Ind. to Harold Ham, Sr. and Wilma K. (Edwards) Ham.  He married Linda Blacker on January 20, 1963 at Colfax Christian Church and they later divorced.  He married Sally Lou Roush on June 3, 2019 at First Christian Church and she survives.

Dick worked at Colfax Grain Company, drove a gas truck for more than 20 years, worked at Exide Battery Company, and retired from Federal Mogul.  He grew up in the Assemblies of God Church in Bloomington and cherished Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.  He was a member of the First Christian Church in Frankfort and also a member of the UAW.

Dick never met a stranger and valued many friendships.  He enjoyed golf and traveling and will be missed by those he loved.

Memorial donations may be made in Dick’s honor to the First Christian Church, 58 S. Columbia Street, Frankfort, IN 46041.

Visitation and Services

Friends may visit 5 – 8 p.m. Thursday, July 20, 2023 at Archer-Weston Funeral & Cremation Center, 501 East Clinton Street, Frankfort.  A Funeral Service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, July 21, 2023 at the funeral home.  Burial will follow in Bunnell Cemetery, Frankfort.

Survived by:

Surviving along with his wife: Sally are his brother: Harold “Mike” Ham, Jr. of England.  Also surviving are his two children: Rick Ham, Jr. (Anitra) and Kim Martin (Rick), seven grandchildren: Ashleigh (Aaron), Kiersten (Will), Jordan, Ericka (Matt), McKinsey (Cody), Makayla, and Jacob, four great-grandchildren: Ryleigh Rose, Kasen Aaron, Beckham Lee, and Boden Matthew; along with several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister: Lois Jean Steele, and a brother-in-law: Jim Steele.

    Sally:
    I know your heart is saddened today by the passing of your sweet husband. Know that Jesus is walking along with you to give you comfort and love. I am also with you in spirit, hugging you through the pain!

    Dick was a wonderful man that was so loving and giving to all! I feel fortunate to have called him my friend! He was fun to be with and always made me laugh at his cute quips. I remember so many fun times spent with you and Dick and Doug and I. He will be missed greatly!

    I am thankful as I know you are to get to see him in Heaven one day. Sally, you will be in my prayers constantly in the days ahead. Please don’t hesitate to call or text me anytime you need me to just listen or be with you in the hard moments. I love you so much – my best friend!!!

    Dick was one of the kindest souls I’ve ever had the honor of knowing. I will treasure our talks together at Federal Mogul and his home. You are now free of pain Dick and you can now rest in peace. Taylor and I love you and will miss you.

    I’m so sorry to here my older Brother has passed away, I’m sorry I can’t attend his funeral, But I live in England and I’m 78 now and cannot make the trip as I have health issues myself, But Richard Will alway be a big part of my life, I Called him every week and will miss those calls. Richard you will always have a place in my heart, RIP Love Mike!!

    Rick and Kim (and both families)….Nancy and I are sorry to hear about your dad. Growing up, going to all the CP events, he was such a friendly dad to all of us and Dick was always one of the (if not the most) well dressed dad’s in my growing up years.
