Richard W. Hawthorne, 75, of Frankfort, died at 6 a.m. Aug. 13, 2011, at his home. Born Sept. 28, 1935 in Indianapolis, he was the son of the late T. Richard and Mary (Lutes) Hawthorne. He was a 1953 graduate of Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis. He married Nancy Burgett on Dec. 22, 1954, in Kentucky and she survives. Mr. Hawthorne was owner of Signs by Jim and was a sign maker for 40 years. A minister since 1988, he led Northfield Church in Zionsville, Youngs Chapel in Crawfordsville, Interterm Minister at Colfax Christian Church and was a minister at Woodside Christian Church. Surviving with his wife are two sons, Michael Hawthorne (wife: Glenda) of Frankfort and William “Bill” Hawthorne of Indianapolis; two daughters, Barbara Nydegger (husband: Gregg) of Monticello and Janice Gable (husband: Mark) of Lebanon; one brother, Ronald Hawthorne (wife: Rosalie) of Indianapolis, and one sister, Mary Alexander (husband: Bill) of Florida. Also surviving 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Colfax Christian Church, 314 S. Clark St., Colfax. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4-7 at the church. Archer-Weston Funeral Home and Cremation Service is in charge of arrangements.
