Robert Eugene Smith

Robert Eugene Smith, 68, of Frankfort, passed away April 1, 2023 in his home.  He was born on September 16, 1954 in Lebanon to Billy Alvin and Helen (Suter) Smith.  He was previously married to Brenda L. Cruz and she survives.

Robert attended Clinton Prairie High School and later earned his GED.  He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps and in the Indiana National Guard for 20 years, attaining the rank of Sergeant.  Along with his service in the National Guard, he worked for Jim’s Garage in Lafayette, Pinkerton Security, and Kyger Automotive.  Robert was an ordained minister for the Church of Gospel Ministry in California.  He was a member of the American Legion and former member of the Eagles, along with a member of the Civil Air Patrol – 1st Lieutenant – Crawfordsville Composite.  He enjoyed skating, fishing, camping, hiking, flying, skydiving, and horseback riding.  His greatest love was spending time with his kids and grandkids.

Memorial donations may be made in Robert’s honor to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Indiana, 8445 Keystone Crossing, Indianapolis, IN 46240.

Visitation and Services

A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at Archer-Weston Funeral & Cremation Center, 501 East Clinton Street, Frankfort.  Friends may visit 5 – 8 p.m. on Monday, April 10th at the funeral home.  Burial with Military Rites will be in Plainview Cemetery, Colfax.  Robert requested attendees wear casual attire for services.

Surviving are his Daughters: Tabitha J. (Tigua) Huckelberry of Lafayette and Sabrina K. Smith of Lafayette; Son: Nathan A. (Gena) Smith of Lafayette; Step-Daughter: Lisa (Rick) Ricci of Logansport; Brother: John C. Smith of Frankfort; 12 Grandchildren; along with several Nieces and Nephews.
